Two households
both alike in dignity
In fair Verona
where we lay our scene
:Romeo and Juliet - William Shakespeare
Last weekend I took a day trip with my friend Sammy (https://pesick.com/) to Verona, Italy. From Florence it was a short train ride, around an hour and twenty minutes with only one stop in Bologna.
If you didn't know before, Verona is the setting for William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and the city definitely gives into the romantic feeling. Unlike Florence, Verona is filled with greenery everywhere you turn and it's definitely one of my favorite touches of the town.
After we arrived in the city we decided to tackle Juliet's house first to make sure we saw it since it was the number one item on our list for Verona, after that we kind of went with the flow and walked around without an agenda.
I think my favorite part of Verona was the fact that I didn't really know anything about it besides being the location of Romeo and Juliet. I was so surprised and feel in love with all the unique boutiques me and Sammy found around the city.
Verona is a perfect day trip, you can walk the entire city calmly within the day, besides Juliet's house being filled to the brim with other tourists.
I definitely recommend adding Verona to a day trip list for Italy, it's a relax and quaint atmosphere with great stores to look at and shop around while also taking in some beautiful sights.
